To celebrate the Centenary of Armistice Day, C Fylm has commissioned a young student team and school and college children to get involved in telling and learning about Cornwall’s WW1 stories. The Cornish Tommies project will enable local people throughout Cornwall to come together to preserve the memories and heritage of Cornish families who lived through the First World War.

Cornish Tommies tells the true story of a young Cornish miner who was called up to serve in the trenches in the last year of World War One. With help from archivists, curators, experts and student volunteers, Cornish Tommies presents the true story of a Cornish mining family caught up in the war.

 

The film will be screening in village halls, community centres, schools and universities from October 2018, alongside a season of WW1 films. Dates and details are listed below…

Cornish Tommies premiere + Journey’s End

Join us for the premiere of Cornish Tommies, presented by the production team. Following the film we will be screening Journey’s End, an excellent film version of RC Sherriff’s classic 1928 stage play set in a dugout in Aisne in 1918. It is the story of a group of British officers, led by the mentally disintegrating young officer Stanhope, as they await their fate.

Ivybridge Remembers: The Armistice

Cornish Tommies will be screening as part of a week of commemoration and celebration of the 1918 Armistice. Book your free tickets to see “The Armistice” – a specially devised community play set in war-time Ivybridge. The play runs for 3 nights from 18th to 20th October with a Q&A session after the production on the Saturday evening.
