Cornish Tommies – We Need You!

Are you over 16 and interested in history, film, mining, acting, singing or media?

We’re creating a documentary on Cornish WWI action, screened for the Armistice Day Centenary, and we need you to be a part of it.

Cornish Tommies: From War to Peace 1918 – 2018 will tell the story of an 18 year old Cornish miner called up in 1917 who served in the trenches in the last year of the war. Severely wounded in action, he was evacuated home. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal and settled back in his village where he sang in the village choir.

Recruiting and screen-testing will take place at Truro College on Wednesday 4th July at 3pm.

We are recruiting young participants as volunteers to learn skills in front of, and behind, the camera. You can help us by:
  • Encouraging young people to sign up this summer.
  • As a parent or grandparent, if you support the memorial project, donate through our charity at www.justgiving.com/carntocove.
  • Join your local C Fylm club (£6 per year) and take your friends and family to see the film.
  • Provide practical assistance to the project eg. providing transport or catering for location shooting in Cornwall – an army marches on its stomach!
To sign up or offer help with Cornish Tommies, please email tim@carntocove.org.uk with ‘WWI’ in the subject, or call 01209 312500
