Kernow Kino is an annual celebration of Cornish film: A fresh programme of short films by local filmmakers, shown in community spaces and cinemas across Cornwall this February and March.

Presented in partnership by Screen Cornwall and C Fylm, Kernow Kino champions local filmmaking talent and creates opportunities for brilliant Cornish films to be seen, shared and celebrated.
What’s on
This spring, Kernow Kino returns with a fresh new programme of short films by local filmmakers, screening in venues across Cornwall. These screenings offer a chance to see a range of locally made films together, in cinemas, halls and community spaces.

LANGUAGE OF LIFE, 2025 Filmmaker: Holly Janem | Producer: Libby Gibbons Drama | 9mins 19s | Language: English Marion, an elderly woman with a deep love for the world around her, finds Lyla, a confused and lonely young girl, asleep on a bench in a cemetery. A bond forms between the two women at opposite ends of life, as they share a conversation that transcends age and experience.

Their friendship is electric and their conversation flows rapidly. Drinking wine and bathing they begin to touch upon more troubling moments from their past. A slice of life story that exhibits the strength, power and intimacy of female friendships.
FRUITCAKE, 2025 Filmmaker: Remy Madge Drama | 15mins | Language: English A young woman losing her grip on reality returns home with a plan to face her past by building a boat. A humorous insight into the sheer desperation of seeming sane in a world that is anything but. A coming-of-age film about grief, guilt, and accepting help.
LYMP (LIMP), 2024 Filmmaker: Harry Faint Drama | 4mins 43s | Language: Cornish with English subtitles During PE at a Cornish Secondary School, James, the new kid – worries about fitting in as he overhears boys ridiculing his limp wrist in the locker room. On the Basketball Court, he realises it could be his super power.
POLL PRI (Clay Pit), 2025 Filmmaker: Edward Rowe | Producer: Bex Rose Drama | 14mins | Language: Cornish with English subtitles Young father-to-be Jori works long shifts hosing clay from the gaping abyss of the pit. But the gap between his wages and the new ‘affordable’ housing in his home village threatens to wash away any dream of supporting his family whilst upholding the traditions of his community.
